In the longstanding history of Kansas City Public Television, KCPT has and continues to educate and enrich the community with quality programming and services, and serves as the voice and platform for the community.

KCPT has had the honor of receiving numerous awards and recognitions for many of its programs, for all of which, it is proud. However, KCPT is not only proud of its excellence in the programs and services it provides. It is also proud of the accomplishments of its very own staff members who work diligently to serve the community and set KCPT apart from the rest.

KCPT would like to recognize Nick Haines, Executive Producer of News and Public Affairs programming who was awarded for his exemplary work within the community.

Nick Haines, Executive Producer of News and Public Affairs Programming

Nick Haines is best known as host of Kansas City Week in Review, but he also oversees programs such as Ruckus and Generation XL, which make up only a few of KCPT's expanding schedule of local news shows.

Greg Harrell, Assistant Professor, Johnson County Community College, presents the Headline Award to KCPT's Nick Haines. On May 1, 2008, Nick Haines received the Headline Award from the Journalism and Media Communications program at Johnson County Community College. The Headline Award is an honor awarded by the Journalism and Media Communications program at Johnson County Community College each year to a journalist whose example serves as an inspiration to students.

Nick Haines joins the ranks of past Headline Award recipients such as The Kansas City Star's Michael Nelson and WDAF's Phil Witt.
