Kliff Kuehl named President/CEO of KCPT
CEO of northern Nevada PBS affiliate will lead Kansas City station
(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) — The board of directors of KCPT, Kansas City Public Television, is pleased to
announce that Kliff Kuehl (pronounced "Keel") has been selected to lead the metro area's community-licensed public television station as president and chief executive officer. Kuehl most recently served as
president and chief executive officer of KNPB, the PBS affiliate serving northern Nevada communities
of Reno, Sparks, Carson City and surrounding areas.
During the past four years at KNPB, Kuehl and his team have won two National Development Awards
while tripling the number of major donors. Under his leadership, the station completed a $6.25 million
capital campaign and secured in-kind donations that allowed the station to build out 6,500 square feet of
additional space at its Reno offices.
In the industry, Kuehl serves as a mentor for the PBS Leadership Development Program, served as the
past president of the Nevada Public Broadcasting Association, and is a member of the National
Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) board of directors. Kuehl has also served as
executive producer on a number of public television programs aired throughout much of the country.
"We are thrilled to bring a public television executive of Kliff's quality and experience to KCPT", says
Tracy McFerrin Foster, chairman of the KCPT board of directors. "His credentials are outstanding, and
his ability to combine creativity and solid business practices is very exciting to us."
Kuehl, who graduated with honors from the University of Texas in 1984, worked as a film and video
producer, production manager and operations manager before becoming president and chief executive
officer of KWBU, the PBS and NPR affiliate for television and radio in central Texas.
"I am honored to have the opportunity to serve this community as part of the KCPT team," says Kuehl.
"I look forward to working with the staff, board, and community to make sure public service media
continues to have the greatest positive impact it can on the Kansas City metro area."
Kuehl's first day at KCPT will be April 6, 2009.
