KCPT Auction Going to Boogie Oogie Oogie All Night

Break Out the Polyester and Bid!

(KANSAS CITY)—The KCPT TV 19 Auction is set for April 27 through May 5, and they're going to boogie oogie oogie all night in a special 70s theme.

"It'll be a Saturday Night Fever all over again," said Karen Rankin, auction director. "We hope viewers get the fever to bid!"

The auction begins at 7 p.m. on weekdays, 3 p.m. weekends, with leisure-suited auctioneers bringing incredible trips, cool gadgets and services up to bid.

Viewers will get the opportunity to bid on numerous great items, including a Friendship Tour of Glasgow, Scotland.  Visit Britain proudly presents an adventure for two designed for the independent and adventurous traveler—The Friendship Tour. Enjoy five nights in one of the magical spots in the United Kingdom—Glasgow, Scotland.

The Friendship Tour is designed for travelers eager to explore Great Britain on their own.  High bidders will have one year to take their journey, from May 1, 2007 to April 30, 2008. The journey begins on with roundtrip coach air transportation for two to London via one of seven gateway cities in the United States to London provided by American Airlines.

Other great items up for bid include other trips, a Sleep Number bed, use of a mobile arcade, works of art, electric scooters, overnight stays in bed and breakfasts, luxury office chairs, a Mahal design rug and much more. Visit www.kcptauctions.org for more information and to bid online.

How the Auction Works

Items are auctioned live on-air. The auctioneer presents up to ten items and certificates at a time. When you see an item you can't resist, all you have to do is pick up your phone and dial 816-931-1919 (while auction is on air). The volunteer will ask you for your name, phone number, zip code, the item you wish to bid on and the amount you want to bid. Any adult (18 or older) can call in a bid on any item open for bids during the auction. Call as often as you like.

Bid Online

You can bid online along with the viewers at www.kcptauctions.org. This opportunity is for items valued $500 and up. Refer to Special Item listings for day item closes.

Rankin said that the auction is also still looking for donations.

"It's easy to donate your product or service. We accept new items or antiques, as well as services in the form of certificates to auction," said Karen Rankin, auction director. "We also need in-kind donations for everything from office supplies and printing to food for auction volunteers. We acknowledge all cash and in-kind donations on air and have many sponsorship opportunities beginning at the $500 level."

"Businesses like to donate to our auction for many reasons. Besides the benefit of helping KCPT, their item gets an on-air presentation along with a full description of the item and the name of the business announced by a KCPT auctioneer," Rankin said.

Donating organizations, business and individuals are recognized in many ways. A complete listing of benefits of donating to the KCPT Auction is located at www.kcpt.org/auction. Auction sponsors include Black and Veatch, Applebees, Hallmark, Assurant, Good Neighbor Pharmacy and Waddell and Reed.

Contact Rankin at 816-756-3580 ext. 4285 or via email at: Karen_Rankin@kcpt.org. Volunteers will pick up donations from across the KCPT viewing area. Donations can also be delivered to: KCPT, 125 E. 31st Street, Kansas City, MO 64108.
