Origins of MU-KU Rivalry Explored As KCPT Reprises
Bad Blood: The Border War That Triggered the Civil War
Airs Thanksgiving Day at 7:30 p.m.
(KANSAS CITY)—The "Border War" football game between MU and KU has origins in a series of battles that triggered the Civil War. Those origins are explored in KCPT's locally produced, Emmy-winning documentary Bad Blood: The Border War that Triggered the Civil War on Thanksgiving Day at 7:30 p.m.
Bad Blood premiered March 4th. The program is a 90-minute documentary about the events leading up to the Civil War along the border of Kansas and Missouri.
Co-produced with Wide Awake Films, funding for Bad Blood came from a grant from the Fred & Lou Hartwig Foundation. The Missouri Division of Tourism and the Kansas Department of Commerce provided additional funding. Other vital support came from the Kansas State Historical Society, Ludwig Design and Blue Wall Design. The production utilizes musical talents of Emmy winner Connie Dover. Danny Cox lends his voice for narration. Wetplate photographer Robert Szabo created eerily realistic photographs that have the unmistakable look and feel of photos from that era.
Shot in stunning High Definition, Bad Blood: The Border War that Triggered the Civil War airs Thursday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. on KCPT. For more information, including a preview of the program, visit http://www.kcpt.org/badblood/.
