KCPT Summer Membership Drive Offers Opportunities for Exclusive Tickets

(KANSAS CITY)—The music that defined a generation sets the stage for KCPT's Summer Membership 2007 Drive May 31- June 17. Doo Wop is a style of vocal-based rhythm and blues music popular in the mid-1950s to the early 1960s in the United States.

Viewers making pledges of support to KCPT during the drive beginning May 31 may choose tickets to the KCPT exclusive Doo Wop concert coming to Kansas City in October. VIP seating and a Meet & Greet opportunity with the artists will be available.

"Kansas City is a Doo Wop town, and we at KCPT get many requests for more of the fabulous sounds by artists such as the Del Vikings, the Penguins, the Chiffons and Mel Carter," said Bonnie Rabicoff, Vice President of Development and Community Partnerships.

 "Our Summer Membership Drive is an opportunity for viewers to support the many fine programs and education services we provide," she added. "Besides music, we will offer health, lifestyle and cooking shows in this special Summer offering. It is gratifying to know that our programs are in demand and beloved by our viewers." Another walk down the musical memory lane during the Summer Drive features the man called "the Caruso of Rock and Roll," pioneer singer/songwriter Roy Orbison. Roy Orbison & Friends: A Black an White Night features performances with the late Orbison along with friends Bruce Springsteen, J.D. Souther, Tom Waits and Elvis Costello.

Additional musical programs airing throughout the 2007 Summer Membership Drive include My Music: Country Pop Legends; Dead Ahead: The Grateful Dead in Concert; Broadway's Best at Pops; Donovan in Concert, Jerry Lee Lewis: Last Man Standing; Celtic Woman and The British Beat. The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Presley, is featured in Elvis Lives: The 25th Anniversary Concert

Besides great music programs, KCPT will present episodes of the series Anne of Green Gables, chronicling the precocious yet lovable young orphan girl navigating her way through life. This timeless coming of age tale encapsulates the magic and wonder of childhood through Anne's eyes.

Fans of Suze Orman will enjoy Suze Orman, Women & Mon., The best-selling author, financial expert and two-time Emmy winner returns to KCPT to inspire women to take charge of their financial futures.
