KCPT Wins 3 Emmy Awards

(KANSAS CITY) KCPT, Kansas City Public Television, recently took home three Mid-America Emmy Awards for several of its locally produced programs, including two wins for the acclaimed historical documentary Bad Blood: The Border War That Triggered the Civil War.

KCPT continues to excel doing what we do best: making quality television programming that reflects the values, interests and needs of our viewers," said Victor A. Hogstrom, KCPT President & CEO.

KCPT's Emmy winners included:

Bad Blood: The Border War That Triggered the Civil War (A co-production of KCPT and Wide Awake Films) for

  • Audio Sweetening: Clayton Stubbs
  • Musical Composition/Arrangement: Connie Dover, Clayton Stubbs

The program was also nominated for Documentary-Historical: Pamela Reichart, Angee Simmons, Shane Seley, Ed Leydecker, Robert Hodge.

KCPT's Eat Small campaign, a partnership with the Maternal and Child Health Coalition funded by the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City; won the Emmy for Community/Public Service Announcement: Angee Simmons, Mark Stamm.

Other KCPT nominees included

COMMUNITY BUILDER: The Life & Legacy of J.C. Nichols (A co-production of APL, Anderson Productions LTD and KCPT)

  • Documentary-Historical: Steven C. Anderson, Brian Peter Falk, Sam Shinn, Agatha Malacos, Michael Murphy, Randy Mason

Winners were announcedat the Mid-America Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) 31st Annual Emmy Awards Gala, October 20, in St. Louis.

KCPT also recently won a Kansas City Association of Black Journalists award in the Broadcast TV category for an episode of TalkBack Live with Steve Rose, which featured an interview with Gwen Grant of the Urban League. The award goes to Mr. Rose and producer Nick Haines.
