The Carter Broadcast Group owns and operates KPRS-FM and KPRT-AM.

Historically, KPRS is the oldest existing African American owned and operated radio station in the United States, founded in 1950 by Michael's grandfather, Andrew "Skip" Carter. Surviving consolidation, KPRS is consistently a top rated station in Kansas City. The company has been recognized three times as a Top 10 Small Business of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. Carter Broadcast Group, Inc. was inducted into the Mid-America Education Hall of Fame in 2000.

The second season of One on One will feature a new set designed by Charlie Myrick, founder and principal designer at Vinyard Entertainment (the largest theme prop production company in the Midwest).

Dr. Norge W. Jerome, a nutritional anthropologist, sponsors One on One with Victor Hogstrom in memory of her parents. The program brings newsmakers, community leaders and persons of interest to viewers with thirty minutes of engaging conversation about their lives and interests. Selected episodes from the show's first season are available as audio podcasts at http://www.kcpt.org/podcasts/ or on iTunes.
