KCPT Membership Highlights the Best of Public Television
Pledging Members Eligible for Exclusive Ticket Offers for Concerts, Shows
(KANSAS CITY) KCPT once again offers inspiring music, informative lifestyle programming and quality entertainment for viewers during the station's 2008 Fall Membership Drive beginning Sept. 5 and running through Sept. 21.
"This is a period of time when viewers can support the many fine programs and education services we provide to the Greater Kansas City community," says Bonnie Rabicoff, Vice President of Development and Community Partnerships. "It is gratifying to know that our programs are in demand and beloved by our viewers. But of course, we can't live on goodwill alone—that's where the support of our viewers comes in."
Viewers making pledges of support to KCPT during the drive may choose tickets to four great concerts and shows coming to town, beginning with Broadway musical production of The Lion King.
Through a unique partnership with the Walt Disney Company, KCPT will broadcast special behind-the-scenes look at the stage adaptation of the story. Kansas City Public Television is the first and only station allowed such access to this incredible show.
"This is the first time Disney has partnered with a PBS station, and KCPT is that partner," says Rabicoff. "We are thrilled to offer our viewers such a programming gem."
In addition to the behind-the-scenes look at The Lion King performance, which took place at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., KCPT will present the live Broadway production, for the first time ever, at the Music Hall in Kansas City on Monday, September 8th at 7 p.m.
"The live Kansas City performance is the same exact show that KCPT viewers will see," explains Rabicoff. "Same actors, same musicians, same set—same magic."
Members who pledge to KCPT during the fall membership drive will receive the opportunity to purchase the best seats in the house when The Lion King arrives in Kansas City. In addition, those who participate in the KCPT program will have the chance to meet the performers after the show.
Similarly, members of KCPT who pledge will be eligible to purchase the best seats in the house for other KCPT exclusive concerts in Kansas City, such as Aussie Pink Floyd and Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas Special.
"Our concerts and shows are an exclusive opportunity for our KCPT members, and a great means of support for public television in Kansas City," says Rabicoff. "It's a win-win situation for everyone. VIP seating and "Meet-and-Greet" opportunities with many of the artists will be available. Plus, all ticket pledges include all the other KCPT membership benefits."
