"Welcome Back, Weasels" The Rare Visions & Roadside Revelations Crew Come Home

Special Airs Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. on KCPT

(KANSAS CITY) KCPT's Randy, Mike & Don the Camera Guy have driven their cramped minivan across the backroads of America in search of the odd and amazing for more than a dozen years now on their popular, nationally syndicated show Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations. They've documented grassroots art and offbeat attractions in 45 states; but in the meantime they've managed to miss some pretty great stuff that's hardly more than an hour away.  A special episode titled "Welcome Back, Weasels" vigorously attempts to remedy that.

This special, "close to home" episode airs Thursday, Aug. 9 at 7:30 p.m. on KCPT.

From Northmoor to Lenexa, Ottawa to Chillicothe (and right here in KC) it's an hour-long look at fun folks like Ben Hawkins, an Overland Park auto mechanic and junk metal sculptor, Tonganoxie's chainsaw carving Russ Ehart, Truckhenge in Topeka, and a yard full of whimsical things in Concordia, MO that Wendell Olson has been making since he retired.

Add in visits to places like Fritz's Union Station, the "home of sliced bread" and the World's Largest Collection of Sunflower themed things, and this show cannot be denied!  The Big Ball's come back home, and once again our intrepid travelers truly are "checkin' out the world in their own backyard."

Rare Visions and Roadside Revelations production funding provided by YRCWorldwide, the DeBruce Companies and Fred and Lou Hartwig. For more information about the show, including maps, photos, links to great sites, a travel blog and their very own online shop, visit http://www.rarevisionsroadtrip.com/.
