Item # 3614
Donor Value $ 2800
2008
marks the tenth and final year of James Michael Kahle's series
collectively known as "The PBS Blues." These works,
created with a combination of ancient and modern techniques, have
been produced at the Glass by James Michael Studio in Dayton,
Ohio. Mr. Kahle's works can be found in private and public collections
world wide. Each piece has been signed, numbered, and exclusively
identified as a piece of the 2008 PBS Blues by the artist. This
year, the unifying theme of all ten vessels is the use of "crazy"
and "star" cane. These particular crazy canes are made
up of 27 shades of blue glass, folded, twisted and pulled into
canes somewhat like taffy, looking like a peppermint stick Each
piece of cane is as individual as each vessel. This large, stunning,
piece is approximately 24" in diameter and 7" tall and
is #4 in the series of 10. On the bottom are etched the series
name, the glassblower's name, the studio name, and the year.
