About the Project: The Making of Bad Blood When in 2004 Angee and Pam approached Fred and Lou Hartwig for the funding for a little documentary about the border conflict between Missouri and Kansas, little did they realize what they were getting themselves into. From heated debates of both sides of the state line as to rights and wrongs committed by the other; to the feeding of over 250 re-enactors, cavalry and actors during the course of 10 separate days of shooting; to the technical challenges of shooting and editing in both HDV and HD…it is not likely that they would have survived. Had it not been for the generous assistance of additional funding from the Kansas Department of Commerce, Missouri Travel and Tourism and HNTB’s “The Second Crossing;” for the expertise and enthusiasm of Shane Seley, Ed Leidecker, Robert Hodge and Bob Zsabo from Wide Awake Films; and for the slightly eccentric troupe of re-enactor historians such as Greg Higgenbotham, Dave Bears, and Robbie Maupin, this little documentary would never have been what it is today. Thanks to everyone who made Angee and Pam’s life a little easier in the making of “Bad Blood: The Border War that Triggered the Civil War.”
