In the wake of the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, both Kansas and Missouri passed measures which would allow teachers to carry guns. But amid concerns over insurance liability coverage, only West Plains in Missouri has agreed to allow armed teachers. In spite of rising security costs for reconstruction, technology and training, statistics show that schools still remain the safest place for children in this country.
