Join KCPT at the KC Zoo’s Autism Awareness Day on April 24 for a free screening of a new Dinosaur Train episode at 10am or 1pm. In ‘Junior Conductor’s Academy’, Buddy and his siblings become friends with a dinosaur who knows a LOT MORE about dinosaurs than Buddy, but has some trouble making friends. Like all dinosaurs, their new friend Dennis has his own dinosaur features. And, like all of us, he has strengths in some areas and challenges in others.
Dinosaur Train and The Jim Henson Company have partnered with the CDC for this episode on autism awareness. The screening and accompanying activities will be sensory-sensitive and will encourage all kids to join in the fun. Representatives from local autism awareness organizations will be on hand to answer parent and caregiver questions about “Learn the Signs. Act Early” milestone trackers.
The Zoo will provide FREE admission to those with autism and reduced admission of $6 per person for those accompanying them at the Zoo. In addition to the screening and activities from KCPT and Dinosaur Train at 10am and 1pm, the day will feature quiet rooms, animal presentations, crafts and more from 10am to 3pm!
