At a remote Mojave Desert high school, extraordinary educators believe that, more than academics, it is love, empathy and life skills that give at-risk students command of their own futures. The new documentary The Bad Kids captures how the strengths of both educators and the so-called “bad kids” can combat the crippling effects of poverty.
Join KCPT for a special screening and discussion of the film at DeLaSalle Education Center, Missouri’s only alternative charter high school dedicated to providing at-risk urban core students rigorous, individualized academics, wraparound support services and workforce development programs. After the film there will be a panel discussion with students and staff about the impact of empowering and inclusive education.
The program begins at 6:30 p.m. Please join us beforehand at 6 p.m. for a special reception catered by DeLaSalle culinary arts students.
