Doing art activities with infants and toddlers can often seem daunting. “It’s messy”, “They can’t make anything”, and “I don’t have time” are often-used excuses. This workshop will look at why art is a powerful tool in promoting all areas of development, creating a base of learning for concepts from self-control to engineering. There will be a time for experimenting with new tools and activities, and tips for how to make it work in your setting. Ideas of how to tie art into STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities, and how to use artwork – from the classics to contemporary – in your classroom will also be presented.
Mary Williams from The Family Conservancy will present “Make Art Meaningful” at KCPT. All early childhood teachers should mark their calendars for May 11, 2017 from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. This is a free workshop, light dinner will be served and two clock hours will be provided. Registration is required at kcpt.org/events.
