TV Dinner Canceled

We regret to inform you that the 2008 TV Dinner event has been canceled due to the current weather conditions and the prediction for lightning and increased storms this evening. The impenetrable deck of the Liberty Memorial does not allow for tents to be staked into the ground, and the rain-soaked grassy areas nearby do not offer a viable alternative. This is incredibly disappointing decision for KCPT staff, the board of directors and our volunteer chairpersons, and we hope you understand that we chose to cancel the event with the best interests of our guests, sponsors, and vendors in mind. Discussions are underway with event leadership, staff, sponsors and vendors to determine if a subsequent event can be offered, and we will communicate the results of these discussions as soon as possible. KCPT thanks you for your support of KCPT Kids and Kansas City Public Television.

FAQs

Why was the "rain or shine" event canceled?

KCPT was prepared to host the event, even in the case of rain, but predictions for thunderstorms and lightning caused us to make the safety of our guests, sponsors, and vendors the number-one priority. In addition, the consecutive days of rain leading up to the event have made the grounds around the Liberty Memorial deck unnegotiable by cars, equipment or people.

Why can't the event be moved inside?

Event leadership considered options for moving the event inside, but venues large enough to hold a benefit of this size could not be secured on such short notice, and not without prohibitive costs even if the venues were available.

Will the event be rescheduled?

Event organizers, including KCPT staff and volunteer leaders, will meet next week to discuss options, but nothing is known at this time.

Will I get my money back?

Your ticket purchase supports KCPT Kids and will be eligible for a full-value tax deduction. We hope you will consider this option.

Tickets
Your tickets are required for event entry.

Parking
Due to very limited parking at the Memorial, parking and continuous shuttle service for the TV Dinner is at the Hallmark surface lots located on the corner of 27th & McGee (click here for parking map). No parking is permitted on Memorial Drive. Limousines and taxis will be permitted to use Memorial Drive for guest drop-off and pick-up only. Patrons in possession of a VIP parking pass may go directly to Memorial Drive to present
your pass for complimentary valet parking.

Seating
New for 2008, the TV Dinner will have no reserved seating. We will of course have plenty of seats, but you will be free to sit wherever you choose ~ up by the dance floor, in a quieter section or by the breathtaking northern downtown view.

Weather and Attire
The event will be held rain or shine. While it is a black-tie event, please dress appropriately should the weather be uncooperative. Black Tie Formal Wear (913.341.4889)
is offering a discount on tuxedo rentals for this event. Mention KCPT TV Dinner to receive the discount. Black Tie Formal Wear is located at 9047 Metcalf.
American Formal & Bridal (913.432.4811) is offering a tux discount for the TV Dinner as well. be sure to mention KCPT's TV Dinner for the discount! They are located at 5330 Martway in Mission, Kansas across from Mission Bowl. Limited availability. First come first served.

Food & Drink
22 Kansas City Originals tasting stations will be on the Memorial Deck. You will enjoy bars stationed on the lower & upper decks, as well as the Fire & Ice Bar on the southern
part of the upper deck. Drinks provided by Glazer's Midwest and The Roasterie.
