Recyclers can learn the practices and planning techniques to get recycling programs off the ground at the first Mid-American Regional Council luncheon of 2104. The lunch is Friday, March 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Golden Corral at 8800 N.W. Skyview in Kansas City, Mo.
The cost is $10.68 and includes drink and tax.
The theme of the luncheon is “Successful internal recycling programs can be yours.” The speakers include Sharon Wester of Swiss Re America Holding Group and Brandon Hearn, environmental officer for the Johnson County Department of Health and Environment.
By learning these practices to help build a successful recycling program, recyclers can discover there is much more needed to do to create success, Matt Riggs, recycling outreach coordinator for MARC, said.
“A good program is more than just putting out a bin and hoping people use it.” Riggs said. He said they have to learn how logistics, planning and outreach come together to shape a successful recycling program for businesses and residents alike.
Interested participants should RSVP to Mark Riggs by March 27.
