What can I donate?

KCPT accepts cars, trucks, motorcycles and recreational vehicles. When you make an automobile donation your vehicle is resold at auction and the proceeds of the sale go to KCPT. Most vehicles are accepted except those that are heavily damaged or incomplete.

When you call have ready:
  • the title to the vehicle
  • location of the vehicle
  • general condition of the vehicle (this assists the tow company in scheduling appropriate arrangements)

Is this donation tax-deductible?


Beginning January 1, 2005, the IRS allows you to take a charitable tax deduction on your federal income tax equal to the gross proceeds from the sale of your donated vehicle.

When your car has been sold at an auto auction, KCPT will send you an acknowledgement letter indicating the gross proceeds of the sale. This letter will serve as a donation receipt for your tax purposes.
