Membership Drive Volunteers

Pledge Phone BankMembership Drives or Pledge occurs in March, June, September and December. During Pledge, special programming is aired during which viewers call in and "pledge" for membership and receive special premiums as thank you gifts.  Volunteers are needed to answer busy Pledge phones and fill out pledge forms.  Volunteers are on the phones for 15-20 minutes per "break" and are free to watch the program, visit and enjoy dinner in between break times.  12 volunteers comprise a full phone bank.  Volunteers are recognized on-camera and verbally throughout the evening.  Training is provided. What are the age requirements for volunteers?

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to volunteer for Membership Drives.

Can our high school group volunteer?

Absolutely!  Volunteers must be a minimum of 16 years of age and be accompanied by one chaperone per 10 students. 

Can I fulfill community service or volunteer service hours at KCPT?

KCPT tracks all volunteer hours for reporting purposes.  Your individual or group volunteer hours are available for your service requirements.  Also, many companies reward their employees for volunteering.  Be sure to check with your HR department.

How many group members can we bring?

A full computer / phone bank consists of 12 people.   

Where is KCPT and is parking available?
KCPT is located at 125 E. 31st Street, KCMO (one block east of Main, under the big, orange tower.)  Parking is available on the west side of the building.  Volunteers MUST enter through the main doors located on the west side of the building underneath the KCPT letters.

What time should I arrive?
Arrival time depends on your scheduled shift. Shift times vary. Please contact Amy Winn at (816) 756-3580, ext. 4286, for your scheduled time.  Typical Pledge shifts are usually 3 to 4 hours long.

Is there food provided?
Generous food donors provide dinner for our hardworking volunteers. If you have special dietary needs, you may want to eat prior to your shift.  Coffee and water are provided.
