Julia Child Memories: Bon Appetit!
Julia Child was not a natural-born cook -- when she married, she could barely boil an egg. But she fell in love with French food, and soon enrolled at the Cordon Bleu where she learned the great tradition of Classical French cuisine. Later, with two French women, she devoted years to writing a manuscript finally published as Mastering the Art of French Cooking which became a culinary classic and sold over one million copies.
Warm and exuberant, Julia was a natural television star. In 1963, she appeared on public television in The French Chef, a cooking series unlike anything yet seen on TV. Scooping up a spilled potato pancake or coaxing a reluctant souffle, Julia was not afraid of making mistakes. Soon a nation fed on Shake n''Bake and Tang would be experimenting with quiche Lorraine and boeuf bourgignon and cooking would become a national pastime.
This is the story of Julia’s two great loves--love for her husband Paul and for cooking. Through an interview with Julia herself, filmed in her fabled kitchen, and rare images from the photo collection of Paul Child and from family photo albums, Julia Child is revealed as few have seen her before in this tribute and testament to a great American icon.

Leonard Cohen: Live in London
For over four decades, Leonard Cohen has been one of the most important and influential songwriters of our time, a figure whose body of work achieves greater depths of mystery and meaning as time goes on. His songs have set a virtually unmatched standard in their seriousness and range.
Sex, spirituality, religion, power – he has relentlessly examined the largest issues in human lives, always with a full appreciation of how elusive answers can be to the vexing questions he raises. But those questions, and the journey he has traveled in seeking to address them, are the ever-shifting substance of his work, as well as the reasons why his songs never lose their overwhelming emotional force. Documentaries, awards, tribute albums and the ongoing march of artists eager to record his songs all acknowledge the peerless contribution Cohen has made to what one of his titles aptly calls “The Tower of Song.”

Love Me Tender: The Love Songs of Elvis
A major reason for Elvis Presley’s massive, unprecedented appeal to women audiences of all ages was his love songs. Always a true romantic, Elvis recorded many, many love songs throughout his career, beginning with “I Want You I Need You I Love You” in 1956 and running the entire span of his life. Entire eras of his remarkable life and career can be evoked by the mere mention of the title of one of his many love songs.
Mention “Love Me Tender” and a hundred images spring to mind. The same can be said for his many other songs of romance. Elvis and his love songs had remained an unexplored area of Elvis’ remarkable career. Now, “Love Me Tender - The Love Songs of Elvis” tells the warm story of the tender side of the King of Rock and Roll. Narrated by Ashley Judd, “Love Me Tender” is Elvis as you’ve never seen him.

Miles Davis: The Sound of Miles Davis
In a rare national television appearance filmed April 2, 1959, the legendary trumpet player performs with the Gil Evans Orchestra and one of his "great quintets," featuring tenor saxophonist John Coltrane, pianist Wynton Kelly, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Jimmy Cobb. Opening the set with "So What," off seminal jazz album Kind of Blue (1959), Davis takes extra solos prior to and directly after Coltrane to make up for the absence of alto saxophonist Julian "Cannonball" Adderley, who purportedly was unable to attend the taping due to illness. A trio of tunes from Miles Ahead (1957) follows, including Dave Brubeck's "The Duke."
Arranger Gil Evans conducts trumpeters Ernie Royal, Clyde Reisinger, Louis Mucci, Johnny Coles, and Emmett Berry; trombonists Frank Rehak, Jimmy Cleveland, Bill Elton, and Rod Levitt; clarinetists/flutists Romeo Penque and Eddie Caine; bass clarinetist Danny Bank; flügelhornist Julius Watkins, French horn player Robert Northern; and tubaist Billy Barber. Taped for The Robert Herridge Theater at Studio 61 in New York City, and first broadcast July 21, 1960, this special should be considered "essential viewing" for jazz enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys great, timeless music.

Playing for Change
Playing for Change (PFC) is an extraordinary effort to unite musicians and vocalists from diverse parts of the globe, while at the same time seeking to immerse audiences in a multimedia movement to inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through music. For the past four years, a small film crew has traveled the globe with a single-minded passion to record little-known, and some famous, musicians for what would become Playing for Change – its name evoking the coins thrown to street musicians as well as the transformation their music inspires. Using innovative mobile audio/video techniques, PFC records musicians outdoors in cities and townships worldwide.
They’ve traveled from post-Katrina New Orleans to post-apartheid South Africa, from the remote beauty of the Himalayas to the religious diversity of Jerusalem. Their talents are captured in myriad environments: under the sun and beneath the streetlights ... in public parks, plazas and promenades ... in doorways, on cobblestone streets, amid pueblos in the hills. Their performances are subsequently combined in allowing them to collaborate – albeit separated by hundreds, or even thousands, of miles. A typical performance showcases American street musicians Roger Ridley and Grandpa Elliott harmonizing with Clarence Bekker from the Netherlands amid an assembly of artists from Russia, Spain, Venezuela, France and Brazil on the Ben E. King/Leiber & Stoller classic “Stand By Me,” the video of which has already become a YouTube sensation with over seven million views.

Smothered: Censorship of the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour
SMOTHERED: THE CENSORSHIP STRUGGLES OF THE SMOTHERS BROTHERS COMEDY HOUR examines the turmoil that surrounded the late-1960s variety show. With a young and brash stable of writers and performers, including Steve Martin and Rob Reiner, The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour brought an edgy new brand of political comedy to the airwaves for three seasons. When they were fired in 1969, brothers Tom and Dick Smothers took their network, CBS, to court ... and won. This is the fascinating, true story as told by its key players, including the Smothers Brothers, show writers Rob Reiner and Mason Williams, performers Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Harry Belafonte, and former CBS executives.

Stevie Ray Vaughn: Play Hard & Floor It
Throughout his career -- even before his career began -- Stevie Ray Vaughan was the consummate guitar player, constantly offering up his services to his friends and idols for album sessions and live jams. Stevie's big break came from playing solo on David Bowie's monster hit "Let's Dance" (included in the program). Also included are some wicked live jams with the likes of B.B. King, Albert Collins, Jeff Beck and Lonnie Mack. Stevie Ray Vaughan's uniquely eclectic and fiery style sounded like no other guitarist, regardless of genre -- a leading light in American blues.
Stevie Ray Vaughan Live: Play Hard and Floor It! showcases the guitar master's career with some of his finest performances caught on tape: Stevie Ray Vaughan's debut at the 1952 Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland: his headlining gig at the1985 Montreaux Jazz Festival: an intense 1983 set at Toronto's tiny El Mocambo club and a hometown gig in Austin, Texas at the height of his career in 1989 -- a year before his tragic death. Friend and Double Trouble bandmate, drummer Chris Layton, gives context to the performances in all-new, on-camera interviews. Songs include his #1 hit "Crossfire," "Pride & Joy," "Texas Flood," "Love Struck Baby" and SRV's remarkable cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile." This compilation taken from studio and live recordings offers views of Stevie as a player and friend.

Ultra Mind Solutions with Dr. Hyman
Is it possible to cure depression, recover from autism, reverse dementia…without the use of drugs or psychotherapy? In a radical departure from the classic therapies, Dr. Hyman shares a revolutionary new method for treating this invisible epidemic of “broken brains” that affect 1 out of every 4 of us.
Based on the emerging field of functional medicine, the cure for brain disorders is outside the brain, in other parts of our bodies, a concept that modern medicine has mostly ignored. Yet the conclusion from science is irrefutable: by healing our bodies, we will heal our brains automatically.
Dr. Hyman reveals that by treating the seven key imbalances in our biology, we allow our body’s natural healing intelligence to take over and automatically heal our brains, leading to an UltraMind – one that’s alert, sharp, focused, happy, energetic and relaxed.
