Cans

The first beer can, which appeared in 1935, was called a cone-topped can-conical in shape at the top with a spout and a crown-type cap, like today's bottle cap. The idea behind this shapes was not to make too radical a departure from the familiar bottle shape. These new containers had a distinct advantage over the later flat top can because they didn't require the installation of a completely new canning system. The flat top can did eventually emerge, allowing a new ease of packaging and shipping.
