Pasteurization

We've come along way from toting beer from the local tavern or brewery by pail to our homes… In the 1870s, Louis Pasteur was trying to improve the quality of French beer to compete against their German neighbors. He experimented with yeast and fermentation and discovered that steaming the finished product killed the harmful bacteria that spoiled the beer. Thanks Louie!
