A Great Town Rises: Kansas City Ragtime. Ragtime reflects a mingling of cultural events, technological advancements, entertainment, musical people at the turn of this past century - from 1800's to 1900 that is. Ragtime is music that originated out of the Black experience but quickly evolved into a music for and of all Americans.
