KCPT Education Technology Conference

KCPT’s K-12 Technology Conference is for teachers, administrators, media specialists, technology coordinators, curriculum directors and anyone interested in the world of education and engaging students. This annual, day-long professional opportunity includes speakers and hands-on learning with more than 20 sessions designed to empower educators with knowledge and strategies for effectively integrating technology in today’s classrooms.

Student Views & Voices / PBS NewsHour Reporting Labs

KCPT believes in building the next generation of public media producers by helping students discover their voice and providing opportunities to reach a broader general audience through broadcast and digital platforms. The PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs initiative is a unique video journalism curriculum, teacher training and mentorship, where teenagers produce youth-focused stories that reveal how global issues affect local communities. Students engage in a powerful form of journalistic inquiry, media production and student-centered learning that builds critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, information and communication skills.

Professional Mentoring Programs

KCPT connects businesses with classrooms and after-school programs to develop professional mentoring programs for students. KCPT builds custom weekly lessons with your business and assists in creating appropriate curriculum aligned to state standards. Successful programs include the Black & Veatch engineering mentoring program that has reached more than 5000 middle school students in the Kansas City metro.
